Native Regrowth

Native regrowth is woody natiive vegetation that has regrown after removal of the canopy. The structure of regrowth varies with age as well as management history.

Forest Ecosystems

What ecosystem functions do native regrowth perform?

Native regrowth of schlerophyll forest.

Table 1 presents the relative magnitude native regrowth performs different ecosystem functions (relative to other ecosystems) in SEQ.

What types of native regrowth are in SEQ?

More Information is soon to come

This area of native regrowth will eventually form part of the D'Aguilar Corridor.

What is the area and extent of native regrowth in SEQ?

Native regrowth ecosystems cover approximately 475 km2, 1.89% of SEQ. This map shows sparse representation of regrowth across SEQ as identified by the Qld Herbarium Regional Ecosystem Database. In 2009 (after the development of this map) a moratorium was placed on all endangered regrowth which identifies new regrowth areas.

What is the vulnerability of native regrowth and threats to this ecosystem in SEQ?
